What to see during the Chopta Tungnath Trek?

Chopta offers a terrific view of the Kedar and Chaukambha peaks of the Himalayas.   We had to go around 4 kilometers uphill to reach the Tungnath shrine.  Tunganath is the highest temple in the  Garwal region.   Infact it gives a beautiful and picturesque view of the majestic Himalayas. During the clear sky one can view the majistic  peaks like the Panchchuli, Nanda Devi, Nilkanth and Kedarnath.   Early spring season is the best time to trek. The Rhododendron forest actually glows red as the flowers bloom during the spring.   The trekking route is  easy and can be accessed by almost everyone.  Pure fun, delight and excitement are guaranteed in this trek.  Tungnath Temple is a very peaceful place, away from the noisy life.   Truly an Abode of Lord Shiva.   As a place, it has little to no access to electricity, public transport or cellphone signals.

What is the Best season to visit Chopta Tungnath ?

Chopta – a hill station which can be visited round the year.   One  can visit the sacred Tungnath Temple  from April to November, otherwise you find the temple closed.  Best time to to travel to Chopta is in Summers (April – June) and Winters (Oct – Dec).

The weather of Chopta remains pleasant clean and healthy during  the summers.  The Himalayas are clearly visible and the cool breeze can felt early in the morning as well as  in the late evening.  During the  monsoon, Chopta turns greener.   Although trekking becomes challenging and there are chances of getting roads blocked for a couple of hours due to landslides, the scenic beauty of Chopta during monsoons is worth taking the risk for.  During the  winters, the region gets blanketed in snow.  The accommodation options are also restricted to few.  But Chopta looks the best during winters and indeed the trek  to Tungnath becomes more difficult because of heavy snow on the trekking path.
